  I messed up our reservation but the front desk staff was great enough to let us into our room while I was sorting out the details with expedia. Was also close to downtown, everything was walkable. Only negative was that it was loud ( you could clearly hear people in the halls and rooms next door).

  The pillows were a bit wimpy (seems typical of hotels), and the air conditioning unit had a bit of a squeaky fan bearing, but otherwise the room was clean and quite comfortable. The rear entrance does need a bit of work, as it is a bit old and rickety.

  We had originally reserved a room with a queen-size bed, however upon seeing our heights, the front desk staff offered to switch us to a room with a king bed at no cost. We had a non-smoking room that appeared to have been recently redone, and was quite nice. Room wasn't huge, but had a fridge and microwave.

  Quiet, clean, comfortable, and convenient. Centrally located in Sydney's Harbourfront District, it is handy to both the down town core as well as the highways to many of Cape Breton's crown jewel attractions.

  The place was quiet and we didn't experience any smoking smells from other parts of the building. While Sydney isn't the most picturesque of cities, we did have a nice view over the harbour, and even got to see the Natal Day fireworks from our room, which was a nice surprise.

  Great for the price, amazing water views, very friendly staff, although has a really firm mattress, and no iron.

  Overall, we got a pretty nice hotel for the price of a crappy one. I am sure that other hotels in the city, which cost 50%+ more, are not any nicer than the room we stayed in.

  Location: Great, right on the water front with a good view over the harbour in a fair amount of rooms. Just steps away from The downtown core. Service: The front staff were very courteous and and lovely. There were some issues and I'll get to that later. The maintenance staff were very professional and fast. The cleaning staff was horrendous, more later. Room and hotel: The building looks newly renovated from the outside. But inside it is falling apart. Holes in the ceiling, walls and floors. Obvious water damage, everywhere and bad patch jobs speckled throughout. You are not going here for quality you are going because it's cheap. Our visit: it was horrible. First we checked in and as we were getting settled we discovered that the room had not been cleaned. There were clothes in drawers, garbage behind the bedside table and a rotten banana peel sticking out from under the tv stand. Clearly been there for a while because it was black and hard. Reported this and was given a new room, this room was half the size of the original room with 1 light for the entire room and no windows. Upon entering we noticed not a single chair or desk in the room and the bedside table had the mini fridge and microwave wedged on it. We reported that it was completely sub par and would rather stay in the dirty room. We were told that was not allowed so they gave us a third room, to which the entrance from inside the hotel was broken. To enter the room we had to exit the hotel around back and enter from the rooms exterior entrance. This rooms layout was the same as our first room which we liked and it was cleaned. So we started to get settled again and turned on the hotels tv for the cable to not be working in this room. Reported the issue and it was promptly fixed and the front staff were completely lovely the whole time with these issues. But did not offer any compensation for the 2 hours of our night lost and incovenince of relocating twice which I was disappointed in.
